Interesting botancials on the nose - like a garden in Spring.
Aroma translates perfectly. Not a typical juniper gin, but complex, smooth, good.

SMALL TALK / CONVERSATION STARTERS

• A pagan hexafoil symbol was found alongside the sandstone window sill in the gothic buildings (now housing the distillery) which alludes to witchcraft and superstition. The rough mark scratched into the sandstone is also a sign used centuries ago to ward off evil spirits.

STORY

Shene Distillery is focused on producing a world-class whisky made from the finest Tasmanian ingredients and pristine waters.

The run down hayshed at Shene Estate was rebuilt to accommodate the distillery.

From a historical context, the distillery's design and construction needed to sit in harmony with the adjacent gothic revival stables and Shene's collection of convict-built structures.

VISIT

Shene Estate and Distillery is a lot like a Whisky Village. We do everything onsite from Milling, Mashing and Fermenting to Distilling and Maturing our whisky. And because of our own onsite Cooperage, Tasmanian Tiger, you can also view the time honoured tradition of Coopering.

We are the ONLY distillery in Tasmania to have our own onsite Cooperage.

Guided by one of our team members, you will journey through our working distillery, explore our onsite cooperage, and visit our Solera Maturation System.

And of course, appreciate a tasting of our award winning Shene Single Malt Whisky in a relaxed, charming, heritage setting at our Cellar Door.
